We were lucky to catch up with Kristian Franklin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristian, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I am a black woman living in America. So, I feel as if I was born with resilience.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve always had a passion for helping people. As the youngest of five, I found ways to stand out, and it always included helping others. So, why did I choose hair as my way to help others? Hair can make or break your day. Have you ever had a bad hair day? Have you ever had a great hair day? If you answered “yes,” then you know where I’m headed with this. Our hair is our crown, and when we look good, we feel good. That’s why I became a Natural Curl Strategist. I am helping people all over the world achieve healthy hair. Nothing makes me prouder than giving back to my community, helping people feel confident about themselves, and equipping people with the tools and techniques to maintain healthy hair.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these? My journey’s three most impactful qualities are courage, resilience, and ambition. I don’t have a background in business. So when I decided to launch Angelic Organics, I had no idea what steps to take; I had to simply start. That can be very intimidating. But a little courage will help you go a long way.
Additionally, in this climate, you must adapt to your surroundings. Be willing to adjust to a new way of thinking/approaching problems. Last but not least, “ambition.” You have to want it more for yourself than anyone else. Believing you can achieve all your goals/dreams will motivate you even when you don’t feel motivated.
